Now Offering Telehealth Visits for Pediatric Neurology and Rheumatology!

During these rapidly changing times, it is important to maintain your child’s neurology and rheumatology visits for their wellbeing. That is why Child Neurology Consultants of Austin is now offering telehealth visits as another way to stay in contact with your child’s physician. The service allows existing patient families as well as new patients to get the care they need when they need it without coming to the clinic.

There are times when it will be necessary to come in-person for the doctor to properly evaluate your child. Our South Austin and Cedar Park locations as well as the Infusion Center remain open for these important clinic visits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can use the virtual visit option?

Our telehealth service is an option for all patients meeting with a child neurologist or pediatric rheumatologist – existing patients and new patients. We realize that sometimes in-person visits are the best option for your child and we are still offering those at our South Austin and Cedar Park clinics.

When can I schedule my telehealth appointment?

Telehealth appointments need to be booked at least 24 hours in advance. Our office hours are 7:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

What types of visits can be done virtually?

Telemedicine is appropriate for a variety of care needs such as follow up visits, chronic disease management, medication management and reviewing test or lab results. If you’re unsure if a virtual visit is a good option for your child, call us at 512-494-4000.

Does my insurance cover a virtual visit?

Most major Commercial and Medicaid health plans cover telehealth visits the same way they cover in-person visits. CNCA checks for eligibility and benefits for each patient before each visit. The collection of payment will be set up in your paperwork for your telehealth visit. Payment for your visit will need to be completed prior to you moving into “the virtual waiting room”.

I've heard about "zoom-bombing". Is your platform secure?

We use a HIPAA-compliant platform called SecureVideo that offers an enhanced layer of security to protect patient health information. While this platform integrates with Zoom, patients are scheduled “inside” the SecureVideo platform helping us to ensure your privacy.

The app isn’t downloading. Who can I call for help?

Please call our clinic at 512-494-4000 if you have any questions.
