Richard W. Hussey, MD
Board-Certified, Fellowship-Trained Child Neurologist / Neurophysiologist
Dr. Richard Hussey is experienced in treating complex neurological issues in children and has a special interest in epilepsy, cerebral palsy and spasticity as well as neonatal neurology.
Dr. Hussey earned his medical degree at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland, He completed his pediatric residency in San Antonio, Texas and completed fellowship training in Child Neurology and Neurophysiology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC.
Prior to joining Child Neurology Consultants of Austin, Dr. Hussey served as a child neurologist in the Army, primarily at San Antonio Military Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas where he spent more than a decade serving various roles including Chief of Child Neurology. He also served as the neurology consultant for US forces while deployed to Iraq.
Dr. Hussey has earned numerous military awards including Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal and National Defense Medal. He has also contributed to several published research studies associated with epilepsy and microcephaly.
