Giving Back

Training Future Doctors

Our doctors are grateful for the excellent medical education and training they received. We give back by helping to educate the next generation of physicians.

Since 2012, we have helped to train residents interested in pursuing pediatric neurology as a medical specialty. Residents from the first class of Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin will start rotating in Fall 2017. Our physicians also train adult neurology and pediatric residents as well as child/adolescent psychiatry fellows from University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston.

Medical School Faculty

Today, several of our physicians serve as faculty for Dell Medical School. These include:

A pediatric neurology specialty requires at least five years of training following graduation from medical school. There are several pathways to train. Our program is unique in that we allow all five years to be completed at Child Neurology Consultants of Austin. We believe doing so offers residents the opportunity to build relationships with patients and families, which is an essential aspect for delivering high quality care.

Resident Continuity Clinic

A key part of Child Neurology Consultants’ residency program is the Resident Continuity Clinic at our Far West location. So that we can better facilitate a closer bond between residents and patients, only a limited number of patient families are selected for the clinic. Dr. Jeffrey Kane, the attending physician in the Continuity Clinic, works closely with the residents and each patient family.
