CNCA Staff Member’s Original Song to Air on the Radio…And Much More to Come

To her colleagues at Child Neurology Consultants of Austin, Moneka Garza is hardworking, kind and full of energy. She can now also add “radio star” to the list.

A few of her co-workers knew about her interest in music (and quite frankly, amazing voice) but no one was quite aware of the seriousness of this passion until, well, she told them she was going to be on the radio.

Dr. [Jeffrey] Kane was so excited he started walking down the halls at work telling everybody,” said Moneka laughing.

Moneka Garza’s song, Better Than Me, which she describes as an R&B love song will air on October 13 between 4 pm to 6 pm on KAZI FM 88.7 radio.

“I have sung my whole life — but not seriously until last November when I wrote my first song,” said Moneka, who uses her nickname “Mookey” as her musician name.

That first song is the same one airing this week on the radio. If you miss the show, you can listen to her song here. Moneka is currently working on an EP (also known as extended play), which is a small compilation of songs or “like a little teaser” before an album release.

“Everything is happening so fast. But, the universe is pushing me to say this is where you’re supposed to be…and I’m trying to catch up,” said Moneka.

We are thrilled for Moneka. A love of music runs deeps at CNCA. Dr. Jinfon Ong has been known to pull out his guitar in the clinic and Dr. Michael Reardon’s blues harmonica often takes him to stages in downtown Austin.
